Rat x Mouse hybrid

Cell Line Description

Hybrid between un-transformed mouse 3T3TK3 cells and normal rat kidney cells transformed with RSV. The hybrid cells express a non-transformed phenotype. The cells exhibit anchorage-independent growth at 35°C but not at 39.5°C, the non-permissive temperature and showed differences in microfilament bundle formation at both temperatures.

Application

Cellular control studies of neo-plastic transformation

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2mM Glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 2-4x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.05% trypsin/EDTA; 35°C; 5% CO2.
