Cell Line Origin

A human mesothelioma cell line derived from a malignant mesothelioma. Asbestos exposure

Cell Line Description

ZL5 was derived from the pleural effusion of a 43-year old male patient, prior to treatment, with a known history of exposure to asbestos.

Culture Medium

DMEM:HAMS F12 (1:1) + 2mM Glutamine + 15% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS)

Subculture Routine

Split subconfluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 using 0.25% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37 °C. Suggested seeding density 2-4x10,000 cells/cm². The cells in suspension should be collected by centrifugation and added to the trypsinized cells before reseeding.
