Cell Line Description

UM-RC-3 is a continuous cell line established from a primary renal adenocarcinoma. It exhibits a loss of contact inhibition and produces tumours in the nude mouse model. The patient had metastatic disease at the time of their nephrectomy.

Application

Study of tumour associated antigens.

Culture Medium

EMEM (EBSS) + 2mM Glutamine + 1% Non Essential Amino Acids (NEAA) + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS).

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:2 to 1:4 i.e. seeding at 1-2x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.05% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C. Doubling time approximately 29 hours.
