Cell Line Origin

Mouse neuroblastoma x rat glioma hybrid

Cell Line Description

NH15-CA2 is a hybrid cell line formed by the fusion of N115-BU-8 (a bromodeoxyuridine-resistant mutant of N1E-115 (Sigma Catalogue number 08062519) and 108CC15 (Sigma Catalogue number 08062516) (itself a mouse neuroblastoma N18TG2 x rat glioma C6-BU-1 hybrid line). This “hybrid-hybrid” line contains both cholinergic and adrenergic enzyme activities.

Application

used as a neuronal model

Culture Medium

DMEM + 2 mM glutamine + 10% Foetal Bovine Serum (FBS) HAT (0.1 mM hypoxanthine, 10 μM aminopterin and 16 μM thymidine) Cells can be cultured without HAT provided they were cultured inbetween in HT medium for 3-4 days

Subculture Routine

Split sub-confluent cultures (70-80%) 1:3 to 1:6 i.e. seeding at 1-2x10,000 cells/cm2 using 0.05% trypsin/EDTA; 5% CO2; 37°C.
