Specificity

Recognizes the p20 subunit of reduced human caspase 1 isoforms and the p45 proenzyme.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acid residues 129-152 of human caspase 1 conjugated to KLH.

Application

Anti-Caspase 1 (ICE) antibody produced in rabbit has been used in immunoblot assay to analyse CASP-3 and -7 cleavage of WT and DKO cells treated with etoposide. It is suitable for immunocytochemistry at a concentration of 10μg/mL using human HL-60 cells. It is also suitable for western blot at a concentration of 0.5-2μg/mL using human HL-60 cell lysate.
Applications in which this antibody has been used successfully, and the associated peer-reviewed papers, are given below.

Biochem/physiol Actions

ICE1 is a MYC-like basic helix-loop-helix transcription factor. It is an upstream activator of the cold-induced transcriptome. ICE1 belongs to the bHLH subfamily 9. It specifically binds to the MYC recognition sites (5′-CANNTG-3′) on the CBF3/DREB1A promoter. ICE1 regulates the cold-induced transcription of CBF/DREB1 genes.

Physical form

Solution of antiserum in 0.1 M Tris-glycine, pH 7.4, containing 0.15 M sodium chloride, and 0.05% sodium azide.
