General description

The clearance of neutrophils that appear in large numbers at the inflammatory site is carried out by programmed cell death (apoptosis). An apoptotic neutrophil undergoes several changes in the amount of protein, carbohydrates and lipids. These changes are recognized by macrophages, which thus destroy the neutrophils by phagocytosis. BOB78, with a molecular mass of 90 kDa, is an up-regulated protein that appears in the granular compartment of the late apoptotic neutrophil. This protein does not appear in freshly isolated erythrocytes, platelets, lymphocytes, monocytes, or neutrophils.

Immunogen

serum-deprived THP-1 cells.

Application

Monoclonal Anti-BOB78 antibody produced in mouse is suitable for use in several immunochemical techniques such as immunoblotting, immunocytochemistry, dot-blot and flow cytometry. Monoclonal antibodies specific for BOB78 are useful for studying the biology of apoptotic neutrophils.
