Biochem/physiol Actions

BCMA, a member of the TNF receptor superfamily, binds to the TNF ligands, APRIL and BAFF. It stimulates the production of IgM in peripheral blood B cells and increases survival of cultured B cells.

The extracellular domain (amino acids 1-54) of human BCMA is fused to the Fc portion of human IgG.

Analysis Note

The biological activity is measured by its ability to inhibit APRIL-mediated proliferation of anti-IgM stimulated mouse B cells.
