UNCX is a homeobox transcription factor that regulates the survival and proliferation of neuronal cells in the olfactory epithelium. Studies in Xenopus laevis have revealed that UNCX is expressed in the pharyngeal pouch and sclerotome. Rabbit Anti-UNCX antibody recognizes human, and zebrafish UNCX.
Immunogen
Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human UNCX
Application
Rabbit Anti-UNCX antibody is suitable for western blot applications at a concentration of 1μg/ml and for immunohistochemistry applications at 4-8μg/ml.
Biochem/physiol Actions
UNCX is a transcription factor involved in somitogenesis and neurogenesis. It is required for the maintenance and differentiation of particular elements of the axial skeleton. It may act upstream of PAX9. UNCX plays a role in controlling the development of connections of hypothalamic neurons to pituitary elements, allowing central neurons to reach the peripheral blood circulation and to deliver hormones for control of peripheral functions.
Sequence
Synthetic peptide located within the following region: AAATEGGGGDCADAGTAGPAPPPPAPSPRPGPRPPSPAEEPATCGVPEPG
Physical form
Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

The axial skeleton develops from the sclerotome, a mesenchymal cell population derived from somites. Sclerotomal cells migrate from somites to the perinotochordal and perineural space where they differentiate into chondrocytes to form cartilage and bone. In anurans, little is known

Uncx (Phd1, Chx4) is a paired homeobox transcription factor gene. It and its probable functional partners, Tle co-repressors, were expressed by neurally-fated basal progenitor cells and olfactory sensory neurons of the olfactory epithelium. Uncx expression was rare in olfactory epithelia
