Synthetic peptide directed towards the middle region of human SLC5A11
Application
Anti-SLC5A11 antibody produced in rabbit is suitable for western blotting at a concentration of 1.0μg/ml.
Biochem/physiol Actions
SLC5A11 is a sodium/glucose cotransporter that uses ion gradients to drive active transport of nutrients, neurotransmitters, osmolytes and ions. It interacts with TNF-α, programmed cell death 1 (PDCD1) and complement component 4 (C4) and may induce apoptosis via the TNF-α - PDCD1 pathway. The gene encoding for this transporter also acts as an autoimmune modifier gene.
Sequence
Synthetic peptide located within the following region: VGGMEGLKEKYFLALASNRSENSSCGLPREDAFHIFRDPLTSDLPWPGVL
Physical form
Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.

Genetic studies in several human autoimmune diseases suggest that the pericentromeric region of chromosome 16 might harbor an autoimmune modifier gene. We hypothesized that the sodium-dependent glucose cotransporter gene SLC5A11 is such a gene, and so might interact with immune-related
