General description

Loricrin is a major component (70%) of the epidermal cornified cell envelope, a cell barrier structure, which replaces the plasma membrane in terminally differentiated epidermal (corneocytes) cells. Loricrin is a marker of epidermal cell terminal differentiation.

Specificity

Anti-LOR polyclonal antibody reacts with human, mouse, rat, and bovine loricrin proteins.

The immunogen for anti-LOR antibody: synthetic peptide derected towards the N terminal of human LOR

Application

Anti-LOR polyclonal antibody is used to tag loricrin for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in plasma by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to identify terminally differentiated keratinocytes (corneocytes) and to study the roles of loricrin in cornification of the plasma membrane of keratinocytes.
