Gene Information

human ... LMX1B(4010)

General description

LIM homeobox transcription factor 1, β (LMX1B) is a transcription factor involved in body patterning and cell differentiation. LMX1B is a key player in dorso-ventral patterning of the vertebrate limb. LMX1B is involved in the development of the midbrain wherein Lmx1a and lmx1b, isthmic organizer (IsO) maintenance factors, function cooperatively to regulate proliferation, specification, and differentiation of midbrain dopaminergic progenitors.

The previously assigned protein identifier Q6ISC9 has been merged into O60663. Full details can be found on the UniProt database.

Specificity

Anti-LMX1B polyclonal antibody reacts with chicken, canine, zebrafish, human, mouse, and rat LIM homeobox transcription factor 1, β proteins.

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide directed towards the C terminal region of human LMX1B

Application

Anti-LMX1B polyclonal antibody is used to tag LIM homeobox transcription factor 1, β for detection and quantitation by Western blotting and in plasma by immunohistochemical (IHC) techniques. It is used as a probe to determine the roles of LIM homeobox transcription factor 1, β in limb and midbrain body patterning during embryogenesis.

Biochem/physiol Actions

LMX1B is essential for the specification of dorsal limb fate at both the zeugopodal and autopodal levels. Defects in LMX1B are the cause of nail-patella syndrome (NPS) also knowan as Onychoosteodysplasia.

Sequence

Synthetic peptide located within the following region: QSPYGSSDPFQQGLTPPQMPGNDSIFHDIDSDTSLTSLSDCFLGSSDVGS

Physical form

Purified antibody supplied in 1x PBS buffer with 0.09% (w/v) sodium azide and 2% sucrose.
