ADAM9 (MDC9 or Meltrin-gamma) belongs to the metalloproteinase family that has disintegrin-like domains (ADAMs). ADAM9 is widely expressed in tissues such as heart, lung and brain cells. This metalloproteinase regulates myoblast functions and activates TNF-α (tumor necrosis factor-α) and HB-EGF. ADAM9 also functions as an adhesion protein with integrins αvβ5 and α6β1. Rabbit Anti-ADAM-9, N-Terminal Active antibody binds to the N-terminus of active human ADAM9.
By immunoblotting against the reduced protein, the antibody identifies bands at 116 kDa (minor band), 66 kDa (major band), and breakdown products at 55 kDa and 34 kDa in cell lysates.
Immunogen

MDC-9 is a widely expressed member of the metalloproteinase/disintegrin/cysteine-rich protein family. The disintegrin domain of MDC-9 lacks an RGD motif but has recently been reported to bind the alpha(6)beta(1) integrin; however, it is unclear whether MDC-9 can bind other integrins.

The ADAMs (A Disintegrin and Metalloprotease Domains) are a family of membrane-anchored proteins that play a role in fertilisation, myoblast fusion and ectodomain shedding of cell surface proteins. Meltrin gamma (ADAM-9) is a widely expressed member of this family and
