General description

Acinus is a ubiquitous protein that induces apoptotic chromatin condensation in cells. This protein is cleaved by caspase-3 and an additional unknown protease that subsequently generates a small active peptide p17. This small peptide causes in vitro condensation of chromatin when it is added to purified nuclei. In humans and mice, there are three distinct splice variants, namely, AcinusL, AcinusS, and AcinusS′. Rabbit anti-acinus antibody binds to amino acids 1065-1080, 338-353 and 307-322 of human AcinusL, AcinusS′ and AcinusS respectively.

Immunogen

synthetic peptide corresponding to amino acids 1065-1080 of human AcinusL, 338-353 of human AcinusS′ and 307-322 of human AcinusS. The selected antigenic sequence is located near the C-terminus of the cleaved active peptide p17.

Application

Rabbit anti-acinus antibody can be used for western blot applications (0.5-1.0 μg/ml).
