General description

Sodium chlorate is a sodium salt. It has been reported to exhibit piezoelectric effect.[1] On heating, it decomposes to give sodium chloride and sodium perchlorate. It can be synthesized in the laboratory by reacting chlorine gas with a hot aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate.[2]
