application

Activated charcoal (activated carbon) may be used:
  • As an organic sorbent to study adsorption equilibrium of ammonia gas.[1]
  • To induce differentiation in Daucus and Allium tissue cultures.[2]
  • To adsorb dyes namely malachite green, bromophenol blue, alizarine red-S, methylene blue, eriochrome black-T, phenol red, methyl blue, and methyl violet from aqueous medium.[3]
  • Adsorb theophylline, on oral administration to patients with theophylline poisoning.[4]

The development of a general catalytic method for the direct and stereoselective construction of contiguous all-carbon quaternary stereocentres remains a formidable challenge in chemical synthesis. Here, we report a highly enantio- and diastereoselective [3+2] annulation reaction of 5-vinyloxazolidinones and activated
