Description

General description

Sodium nitrate is an inorganic sodium salt. Sodium nitrate (Chile saltpeter, NaNO₃) is found naturally in abundant amounts in paleogeochemical ores in northern Chile. Sodium nitrate can be obtained from these ores by mining and leaching. NaNO₃ can be used as a fertilizer in agricultural fields.[1]

Application

Sodium nitrate may be employed in polyol process for the modification of morphological features of Pt nanoparticles.[2] It may be employed for the modification of natural phosphate (NP) to afford natural phosphate doped with sodium nitrate (NaNO₃/NP). NaNO₃/NP was used as a catalyst during the synthesis of chalcones.[3]
