General description

2-Butanol is a secondary alcohol. Dehydration of 2-butanol has been employed as a probe reaction to investigate the acid and redox properties of WOx−ZrO2 catalysts.[1] Its dehydration over a series of hydroxyapatite catalysts has been studied.[2]

Application

2-Butanol was used to investigate the influence of alcohol hydrogen donor on methyl furan production, via catalytic transfer hydrogenation of furfural.[3]
It may be used to investigate the influence of hydrogen donor on methyl furan production.[4]
