General description

Silicon dioxide is one of the important constituents of sedimentary rock bauxite,[1] basalt fibers[2] and ceramic fibers.[3] It is added to cement to improve the hydraulic properties of cement.[4]

Application

Silicon dioxide may be employed in the preparation of calcium silicide.[5]
