Application

Sodium nitrate has been used as a test compound for estimating the NO production by assessing the concentration of nitrate and nitrite in the media.[1] It has also been used for measuring the nitrite content in saliva.[2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sodium nitrate reduces the chloride and sodium reabsorption in the distal nephron.[3]
