General description

Chloroethane is a haloalkane used as an intermediate or as a solvent in organic synthesis. It has major applications in the production of tetraethyl lead, ethyl-cellulose, and an antiknock additive for gasoline. It is also used in cleaning and degreasing applications.[1]

Application

Chloroethane can be used to prepare:
  • pyrido[1,2-a]pyrimidinone derivatives[2]
  • 2H-perovskite compound [Me3NCH2CH3]CdCl3[3]
  • benzo[cd]indol-2(1H)-ones derivatives as potent BRD4 inhibitors[4]
