General description

3-Hydroxycarbamazepine is a metabolite of carbamazepine, which is classified under the family of anticonvulsant drugs prevalently utilized for the therapeutic purpose. Carbamazepines occur abundantly in the environment and are suspected to cause potential threats to humans and wildlife.[1][2]

Application

3-Hydroxycarbamazepine may be used as an analytical standard for the determination of the analyte in environmental samples,[1] biological samples,[3][4][5][6] water, sediment, fish (Gasterosteus aculeatus) and mollusk (Dreissena polymorpha)[7] by various chromatography techniques.
