General description

Maslinic acid belongs to the class of triterpenic acids, a group of phytochemicals present in a large variety of plants. It exhibits a broad-spectrum of biological properties such as cardiovascular, antihyperlipidemic, antioxidant effects, hepatoprotective effects, antitumor activity. It is also involved in enhancing the cellular immune system.[1]

application

Maslinic acid may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in the leaves of Ziziphus species[2] and fruits[1] using different chromatography techniques.
