General description

all-trans-Neurosporene belongs to the class of carotenoids,[1] and is mostly reported to have been obtained from 15-cis phytoene by phytoene desaturase CrtI in photosynthetic bacteria, carotenogenic bacteria, and fungi.[2]

Application

all-trans-Neurosporene may be used as an analytical reference standard for the quantification of the analyte in plant tissues[3] and tangerine tomatoes[4] using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to a photodiode array detector (PDA).
