General description

Congo paper is formed by impregnating filter paper with Congo red reagent. This reagent is a red-brown powder and gives a colloidal suspension when dissolved in water. It is used as an acid-base indicator. At pH 3.0 to 5.2, the colour changes from blue-violet to red.[1]
