General description

PCB No 77 belongs to the class of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), a group of highly toxic pollutants commonly found in various environmental matrices and food products. They find a variety of applications as flame retardants, plasticizers, dielectric and heat transfer fluids, etc.[1]
PCB No 77 is a polychlorinated biphenyl congener.[2] It can also induce cytochrome P-450 enzyme in marine creatures like the rainbow trout fish.[2]

Application

PCB No 77 solution may be used as an analytical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in meat,[3] poultry[3] and fish[4] using chromatography techniques.
