General description

Arsenite Ionophore I (5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-methoxyphenyl)porphyrinatocobalt (TMOPP-Co)) can be synthesized by boiling a mixture of 5,10,15,20-tetrakis (4-methoxyphenyl)porphyrin (TMOPP) and cobalt acetate in glacial acetic acid. It has tendency towards attracting molybdate ions.[1]

Application

Arsenite Ionophore I (5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-methoxyphenyl)porphyrinatocobalt (TMOPP-Co)) was used in the electroactive phase in the in PVC matrix, as molybdate selective sensors, during the fabrication of MoO42- selective electrode.[1] It was also used as a membrane potentiometric sensor for dtermination of cobalt (II) in actual wastes.[2] It may also be used as a electroactive material, for arsenite determination.[3]
