General description

L-Ascorbic acid 6-stearate is a lipophilic fatty acid ester of ascorbic acid.[1]

This substance is listed on the positive list of the EU regulation 10/2011 for plastics intended to come into contact with food.

Application

L-Ascorbic acid 6-stearate (ASC-S) may be used as a standard in determining the apoptotic activity of ASC-S through the intrinsic mitochondrial pathway in HeLa cell lines, derived from cervical cancer cells.[2] It may also be used as an analytical standard to investigate its interaction with bovine serum albumin using surface plasmon resonance (SPR).[3]
