General description

Copper(I) bromide is a copper(I) halide. Copper(I) bromide along with N-(n-octyl)-2-pyridylmethanimine participates in the living-radical polymerization of methyl methacrylate.[1] It reacts with various heterocyclic thiones (L) in the presence of triphenylphosphine, to afford the mononuclear complexes of the general formula [Cu(L)(PPh3)2Br].[2]

Application

Copper(I) bromide may be used in the synthesis of the following:
  • enantioenriched, functionalized and protected propargylamines[3]
  • polyvinylchloride bearing benzoxazine side groups[4]
  • polybutadiene having benzoxazine side-groups (PB-Benzoxazine)[5]

The covalent attachment of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) to therapeutic proteins is a commonly used approach for extending in vivo half-lives. A potential limitation of this PEGylation strategy is the adverse effect of PEG on conjugate viscosity. Interferon-alpha (IFN) was conjugated
