Gene Information

human ... FABP1(2168)

General description

Fatty acid-binding protein, also known as liver or Fatty acid-binding protein 1 or Liver-type fatty acid-binding protein or L-FABP, and encoded by the gene name FABP1 or FABPL, is the fatty acid binding protein found in liver. Fatty acid binding proteins are a family of small, highly conserved, cytoplasmic proteins that bind long-chain fatty acids and other hydrophobic ligands. FABP1 and FABP6 (the ileal fatty acid binding protein) are also able to bind bile acids. It is thought that FABPs roles include fatty acid uptake, transport, and metabolism.

Specificity

Equilibrium disassociation constant (KD) is 4.55 x 10 -11 M

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to human FABP1.

Application

Anti-FABP1, clone EPR5895(2), Rabbit Monoclonal Antibody is an antibody against FABP1 for use in Western Blotting, Flow Cytometry.
Flow Cytometry Analysis: A 1:10-100 dilution from a representative lot detected FABP1 in HepG2 cells.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in human fetal liver, mouse liver, human small intestine, and HepG2 lysates.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000-10,000 dilution of this antibody detected FABP1 in human fetal liver, mouse liver, human small intestine, and HepG2 lysates.

Target description

~13 kDa observed. Uncharacterized bands may be observed in some lysate(s).

Physical form

Format: Unpurified
Rabbit monoclonal in buffer containing PBS with up to 0.1% sodium azide, 0.05% BSA, and 50% glycerol.
Unpurified

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to lot specific datasheet.
