Gene Information

human ... UBE3A(7337)

General description

Ubiquitin-protein ligase E3A, also known as E6AP ubiquitin-protein ligase or Human papillomavirus E6-associated protein or Oncogenic protein-associated protein E6-AP or Renal carcinoma antigen NY-REN-54, and encoded by the gene name UBE3A or E6AP or EPVE6AP or HPVE6A, is an E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase, part of the ubiquitin protein degradation system. This imprinted protein is maternally expressed in brain and biallelically expressed in other tissues. Maternally inherited deletion of this protein causes Angelman Syndrome, characterized by severe motor and intellectual retardation, ataxia, hypotonia, epilepsy, absence of speech, and characteristic facies. The protein also interacts with the E6 protein of human papillomavirus types 16 and 18, resulting in ubiquitination and proteolysis of tumor protein p53.

Specificity

Equilibrium disassociation constant (KD) is 1.33 x 10 -10 M

Immunogen

Synthetic peptide corresponding to human UBE3A.

This Anti-UBE3A antibody is validated for use in Western Blotting for the detection of UBE3A.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in Jurkat, HeLa, and K562 cell lysates.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000-10,000 dilution of this antibody detected UBE3A in Jurkat, HeLa, and K562 cell lysates.

Target description

~100 kDa observed. Uncharacterized bands may be observed in some lysate(s).

Physical form

Format: Unpurified
Rabbit monoclonal in buffer containing PBS with up to 0.1% sodium azide, 0.05% BSA, and 50% glycerol.
Unpurified

Storage and Stability

Stable for 1 year at -20°C from date of receipt.
Handling Recommendations: Upon receipt and prior to removing the cap, centrifuge the vial and gently mix the solution. Aliquot into microcentrifuge tubes and store at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles, which may damage IgG and affect product performance.
Note: Variability in freezer temperatures below -20°C may cause glycerol containing solutions to become frozen during storage.

Other Notes

Concentration: Please refer to lot specific datasheet.
