General description

Aldehyde dehydrogenase family 3 member A1 (ALDH3A1 or Aldh3A1) is a member of the aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) superfamily. The ALDH family is a group of NAD(P)(+)-dependent enzymes that catalyze the oxidation of a wide spectrum of aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes. ALDHs are involved in the metabolism of corticosteroids, biogenic amines, neurotransmitters, and lipid peroxidation. They are suggested to play a major role in the detoxification of alcohol-derived acetaldehyde. ALDH3A1 is shown to oxidize preferentially aromatic aldehyde substrates, and it may play a role in the oxidation of toxic aldehydes. ALDH3A1 is highly expressed in stomach, esophagus, lung, and cornea. It represents between 5 to 50% of the water soluble protein fraction in mammalian corneas and it is implied to protect the cornea from UV-induced oxidative stress.

Immunogen

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to the N-terminus of human ALDH3A1.

Application

Detect Aldehyde Dehydrogenase using this mouse monoclonal antibody, Anti-ALDH3A1, clone 10C7.1 Antibody validated for use in western blotting & IHC.
Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected ALDH3A1 in human stomach and lung tissues.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in A549 cell lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: 1 µg/mL of this antibody detected ALDH3A1 in 10 µg of A549 cell lysate.

Melanoma and non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) cell lines are characterized by an intrinsic population of cancer stem-like cells (CSC), and high expression of detoxifying isozymes, the aldehyde dehydrogenases (ALDHs), regulating the redox state. In this study, using melanoma and NSCLC
