Gene Information

human ... ACOT7(11332)

General description

ACOT7, also known as Acyl-CoA thioesterase 7, or Brain acyl-CoA hydrolase (BACH) or CTE-Iia/CTE-II, or Long chain acyl-CoA thioester hydrolase, and encoded by the gene ACOT7/BACH, is part of a family of enzymes called Acyl-CoA thioesterases which are enzymes that catalyze the hydrolysis of acyl-CoAs to the free fatty acid and coenzyme A (CoASH), providing the potential to regulate intracellular levels of acyl-CoAs, free fatty acids and CoASH. ACOT7 particularly plays an important physiological role in the brain because of the brain’s use of CoA metabolism. Additionally, ACOT7 may play a regulatory role by modulating the cellular levels of fatty acyl-CoA ligands for certain transcription factors as well as the substrates for fatty acid metabolizing enzymes, contributing to lipid homeostasis. ACOT7 is localized to the cytoplasm and mitochondria. ACOT7 is expressed in variety of cells and tissues. Isoform 4 is expressed exclusively in the brain.

Immunogen

Linear peptide corresponding to human ACOT7.

Application

Detect Acyl-CoA thioesterase 7 using this rabbit polyclonal antibody, Anti-ACOT7 Antibody validated for use in western blotting.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in mouse brain tissue lysate.

Western Blotting Analysis: A 1:1,000 dilution of this antibody detected ACOT7 in 10 µg of mouse brain tissue lysate.

Target description

~ 42 kDa observed
