Gene Information

human ... FEZF2(55079)

General description

Fezf2 is a transcriptional repressor protein. It is required for the specification of corticospinal motor neurons and other subcerebral projection neurons. FeZf2 also plays a role in the layer and subcortical specific patterning of the subcortical projections and axonal fasciculations that develop in the brain. Fezf2 also controls the development of the dendritic arborization and spines of the large layer V pyramidal neurons. Thus biological processes involving Fezf2 include neuronal patterning, differentiation, neurogenesis, axon guidance, fasciculation, cortex development, anterior/posterior patterning, dendrite development, and locomotory behavior, and it was recently identified as a multipotent progenitor marker for neocortical projection neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes.

Immunogen

Epitope: Engrailed homology 1 repressor domain
KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the Engrailed homology 1 repressor domain of human Fezf2.

application

Immunohistochemistry Analysis: A 1:50 dilution from a representative lot detected Fezf2 in rat spinal cord tissue.

Neuronal cultures provide a basis for reductionist insights that rely on molecular and pharmacological manipulation. However, the inability to culture mature adult CNS neurons limits our understanding of adult neuronal physiology. Here, we report methods for culturing adult central nervous
