Gene Information

General description

Histone H4 is one of the 5 main histone proteins involved in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. Featuring a main globular domain and a long N terminal tail H4 is involved with the structure of the nucleosomes of the ′beads on a string′ structure. Acetylation of histone H4 occurs at several different lysine positions in the histone tail and is performed by a family of enzymes known as Histone Acetyl Transferases (HATs).

Specificity

This antibody recognizes the N-terminus of asymmetric Histone H4 dimethylated at Arg17.

Immunogen

KLH-conjugated linear peptide corresponding to the N-terminus of human asymmetric Histone H4 dimethylated at Arg17.

Application

Detect Histone H4 using this rabbit polyclonal antibody, Anti-dimethyl Histone H4 Antibody (Arg17) validated for use in western blotting, Dot Blot & ICC.
Dot Blot (Specificity) Analysis: A 1:200 dilution from a representative lot detected asymmetric Histone H4 dimethylated at Arg17, but not unmethylated Histone H4 or other peptides corresponding to modified histones.

Immunocytochemistry Analysis: A 1:2,000 dilution from a representative lot detected Histone H4 dimethylated at Arg17 in MEF-1 cells.

Quality

Evaluated by Western Blotting in untreated and CARM1 treated Histone H4 recombinant proteins.

Western Blotting Analysis: 0.25 µg/mL of this antibody detected asymmetric Histone H4 dimethylated at Arg17 in CARM1 treated Histone H4 recombinant proteins.

Target description

~13 kDa observed

Analysis Note
