General description

Histone H3 is one of the five main histone proteins involved in the structure of chromatin in eukaryotic cells. Featuring a main globular domain and a long N-terminal tail, H3 is involved with the structure of the nucleosomes of the ′beads on a string′ structure. The N-terminal tail of histone H3 protrudes from the globular nucleosome core and can undergo several different types of epigenetic modifications that influence cellular processes. These modifications include the covalent attachment of methyl or acetyl groups to lysine and arginine amino acids and the phosphorylation of serine or threonine.

Immunogen

Linear peptide corresponding to yeast Histone H3 monomethylated at Lys18.

Application

Detect methylated Histone H3 using this rabbit polyclonal antibody, Anti-monomethyl Histone H3 Antibody (Lys18) validated for use in western blotting & Dot Blot.

Western Blotting Analysis: A representative lot detected monomethyl Histone H3 (Lys18) in yeast whole cell extracts, which express wild-type monomethyl Histone H3 (Lys18) and not mutant monomethyl Histone H3 (Lys18Ala) (Prof. F. Howe from the laboratory of Prof. J. Mellor, University of Oxford.).

Dot Blot Analysis: A representative lot detected monomethyl Histone H3 (Lys18) peptide and not unmodified Histone H3 (Prof. F. Howe from the laboratory of Prof. J. Mellor, University of Oxford.).

Chromatin Immunoprecipitation Analysis: A representative lot immunoprecipitated monomethyl Histone H3 (Lys18) in 1.6X 10E7 yeast cell equivalents (Prof. F. Howe from the laboratory of Prof. J. Mellor, University of Oxford.).
