General description
A cell-permeable, fast acting, branched polyamine (C8N6) that specifically induces the growth of actin-enriched lamellipodia within minutes (at ~ 10-100 µM) without the need for serum cofactors . Its effects are more pronounced on the edges of cells that exhibit lamellipodial activity before any treatment. Enhances nucleation by capping protein and thereby facilitates the initiation of filament branching at the lamellipodium tip. Does not affect actin polymerization in cells pre-treated with depolymerizing agents. Does not affect the survival or death of tumor cells even at higher concentration (1 mM). The assembly of actin appears to be more distinct at physiological ionic concentrations. The Cy3 conjugated version is also available (Cat. No. xxxx?)
