General description
Recombinant, mouse interleukin-3 expressed in E. coli. IL-3 is a hemopoietic colony stimulating factor that interacts with very early multipotent hematopoietic progenitor cells. Stimulates production and differentiation of macrophages, neutrophils, basophils, mast cells, and eosinophils. IL-3 supports colony formation in the soft agar of bone marrow cells of granulocyte, macrophage, megakaryocyte, and erythrocyte lineages. Unlike human IL-3, the murine form supports the growth of mast cells. IL-3 activity is highly species-specific. Murine IL-3 does not show activity on human cells. Recombinant IL-3 produced in and purified from E. coli.

Biochem/physiol Actions
ED₅₀ = 0.01-0.1 ng/ml as measured in a cell proliferation assay using NFS-60 cells.

Physical form
Lyophilized from sterile-filtered (0.22 µm) buffer, carrier-free.
Reconstitution
Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-70°C) for long term storage or refrigerate (4°C) for short term storage. Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 month at 4°C or for up to 3 months at -70°C. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles of solutions.
Reconstitute to a final concentration of 0.1-1 mg/ml. Further dilutions should be made in low-endotoxin medium or buffer containing FBS or tissue culture grade BSA.
