General description
Recombinant, mouse fibroblast growth factor (FGF) acidic, consisting of amino acids 16-155 and expressed in E. coli, with an N-terminal Met. FGF acidic stimulates proliferation of all cells of mesodermal origin and many cells of ectodermal, neuroectodermal, and endodermal origin. Intracellular FGF acidic inhibits p53 activity and proapoptotic signaling, thereby enabling it to function as a survival factor.
Biochem/physiol Actions
ED₅₀ = 0.05-0.25 ng/ml, in the presence of 10 µg/ml heparin, as measured in a cell proliferation assay using NR6R-3T3 mouse fibroblasts.
Warning
Toxicity: Standard Handling (A)
Physical form
Lyophilized from 0.2 µm sterile-filtered solution in MOPS, Na₂SO₄, EDTA, DTT, BSA.
Reconstitution
Following reconstitution refrigerate (4°C) for short-term storage or aliquot and freeze (-20°C) for long-term storage. Stock solutions are stable for up to 1 month at 4°C or for up to 3 months at -20°C.
Reconstitute to 100 µg/ml in sterile PBS containing at least 0.1% human or bovine serum albumin.
