General description

Cyanoguanidine, also known as Metformin Related Compound A, is an impurity produced during pharmaceutical manufacturing of metformin active pharmaceutical ingredients (API). Along with M-195-1ML Metformin Impurity Mixture, this solution-based Certified Reference Material is suited for use in metformin monograph testing methods by HPLC in testing applications ranging from API release testing to pharmaceutical research.
Cyanoguanidine, also known as Metformin Related Compound A, is an impurity produced during the pharmaceutical manufacturing of metformin active pharmaceutical ingredient (API). Metformin belongs to the class of biguanide hypoglycaemic drugs and is orally administered in the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(T2DM) among patients who are unresponsive to dietary and lifestyle modifications. It is also commonly used in the management of polycystic ovarian syndrome and other metabolic syndromes with hyperinsulinemia as a condition.[1][2][3]
Along with M-195-1ML Metformin Impurity Mixture, this solution-based Certified Reference Material is suited for use in metformin monograph testing methods by HPLC in applications ranging from API release testing to pharmaceutical research.

Application

Metformin Related Compound A can be used as a pharmaceutical reference standard for the determination of the analyte in pharmaceutical formulations by chromatographic and spectrophotometric techniques.[1]
These Secondary Standards are qualified as Certified Reference Materials. These are suitable for use in several analytical applications including but not limited to pharma release testing, pharma method development for qualitative and quantitative analyses, food and beverage quality control testing, and other calibration requirements.
