General description

A Certified Spiking Solution® of 25-Hydroxyvitamin D2, a prohormone whose blood serum levels are used to determine Vitamin D nutritional status. This solution standard is suitable for critical quantitative applications in research and clinical environments including: for use in preparation of controls and calibrators for LC/UV and LC-MS/MS assays; as system tuning/suitability standards; linearity verification; internal proficiency testing; and for OEM use in preparation of reagents, development of assays and instrument IQ/OQ.

The stable, quantitative solution format provides significant benefits to the user including material savings, increased efficiency of labor, and convenience of use. The shelf stable Snap-N-Spike® format allows laboratories to eliminate painstaking weighing operations and provides the ability to spike a known concentration of analyte into their matrix of choice just before use.

Application

25-Hydroxyvitamin D2 may be used as a certified reference material (CRM) for the determination of the analyte in biological samples[1][2][3] by chromatography techniques.

Supplementation with vitamin D has received attention as a potential cardioprotective strategy. Biologically plausible mechanisms have been proposed to link vitamin D to coronary heart disease (CHD) prevention, and observational studies suggest an inverse association between serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25OHD)

Higher serum total 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) concentrations have been associated with better lung function and lower risk of allergic disease. 25(OH)D3 constitutes the majority of total 25(OH)D and has been suggested to be more potent than 25(OH)D2. We studied the

The circulating form of vitamin D, 25-Hydroxyvitamin D (25-OHD), is commonly measured in clinical labs to evaluate vitamin D status of an individual. Vitamin D exists in 2 major forms: vitamin D3 and D2. Current methodologies for 25-OHD testing include
