General description

A Certified Spiking Solution® suitable for use as starting material in calibrators or controls for a variety of LC/MS or GC/MS applications from clinical and diagnostic testing to endocrinology and sports testing. 6ß-Hydroxytestosterone is a major urinary metabolite of testosterone, a hormone from the androgen group of steroids. Testosterone is an important sex hormone and anabolic steroid used as a performance-enhancing drug.

Application

  • Investigating enzyme inhibition with 6β-Hydroxytestosterone: The study on liver microsomal bioreactors for rapid drug metabolism and inhibition assays employed 6β-Hydroxytestosterone to understand its effects on CYP450 enzyme activities, highlighting its utility in pharmacokinetic studies and enzyme behavior under varying physiological conditions (Walgama et al., 2015).

  • 6β-Hydroxytestosterone as a biochemical assay reagent: A sensitive and specific LC-MS/MS cocktail assay developed for CYP450 enzymes employed 6β-Hydroxytestosterone as a reference compound, demonstrating its applicability in biochemical assays and its role in enhancing the detection of enzymatic activity and metabolic pathways (Nguyen et al., 2020).

To investigate the pharmacokinetic interaction between cyclosporin A (CsA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) in vivo, 5 mg/kg CsA was orally or intravenously coadministered with DHA (50-200 microg/kg) to rats. The effect of DHA on CYP3A activity was determined using rat

CYP3A4, an important drug-metabolizing enzyme, is known to have genetic variants. We have previously reported that CYP3A4 variants such as CYP3A4.2, 7, 16, and 18 show different enzymatic kinetics from CYP3A4.1 (wild type). In this study, we quantitatively investigated the

This study evaluated the in vitro activation of CYP3A-mediated midazolam 1-hydroxylation and testosterone 6β-hydroxylation by tanshinone I, tanshinone IIA, and cryptotanshinone. The abilities of tanshinones to activate CYP3A-mediated midazolam 1-hydroxylation and testosterone 6β-hydroxylation in human liver microsomes (HLMs) were tested.

Uridine diphosphate glucuronosyltransferases (UGTs) catalyze the glucuronidation of a wide range of xenobiotics and endogenous substrates. However, there is a lack of information concerning the response of human UGTs to inducers, and this observation prompted the current investigation. The glucuronidation
