Biochem/physiol Actions

Ether linked phospholipids serve as precursors for important signaling molecules. They contribute to 20 percent of the total phospholipids in human. Genetic disorders affecting the synthesis of ether phospholipids might lead to pathological conditions. Ether glycerolipids act as membrane molecules and cellular mediators.
