General description

Phophotidylcholine (PC) is a major phospholipid found in eukaryotic membranes. It constitutes upto 50% of the phospholipid content in the cells. PC is produced by Kennedy (CDP‐choline) pathway.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phophotidylcholine (PC) plays a role in maintaining the integrity of membranes. It is needed for the synthesis of very low density lipoprotein (VLDL). PC is also required for the myelination of nerves. It is also needed to produce secondary messengers involved in inflammation and asthma.[1]
