General description

C16-02:0 DG, also called as 1-O-hexadecyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycerol (HAG), is an alkylacylglycerol and a bioactive lipid. Structurally, HAG contains primary alcohol group at the C3 position.[1]

Application

C16-02:0 DG or 1-O-hexadecyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycerol (HAG) may be used to prevent 1-O-acyl-NAS formation.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

C16-02:0 DG or 1-O-hexadecyl-2-acetyl-sn-glycerol (HAG) is a diacylglycerol (DAG) antagonist with a potential to inhibit protein kinase C (PKC) activity.[2] It also has an ability to inhibit growth of human promyelocytic leukemia cell line HL-60.[3] HAG serves as a precursor in the biosynthesis of platelet-activating factor.[1]
