Biochem/physiol Actions

Adamantanyl GlcCer (AdaGlcCer) is a glycosphingolipid (GSL) analog. It acts as an inhibitor and an alternative substrate to redirect cellular GSL metabolism in a directed manner. AdaGlcCer also regulates abnormal GSL turnover. Adamantyl monohexosyl ceramides establishes novel approaches to selectively exploit normal cellular GSL metabolism and lowers GSL accumulation in cells of lysosomal storage disease (LSD) patients.[1]
