General description

Egg sphingosine is a central metabolite, which arises from the de novo synthesis of cellular sphingolipids. It modulates growth, differentiation, survival and cell death. Egg sphingosine functions as a pharmacological inhibitor of protein kinase C in human platelets. It is also implicated in inhibiting platelet aggregation in cells.

Application

Egg sphingosine has been used to study protein-lipid interaction.

Cell membranes contain hundreds to thousands of individual lipid species that are of structural importance but also specifically interact with proteins. Due to their highly controlled synthesis and role in signaling events sphingolipids are an intensely studied class of lipids.

Our team of scientists has experience in all areas of research including Life Science, Material Science, Chemical Synthesis, Chromatography, Analytical and many others.
