General description

16:0-18:0 (6-7BR) PC (1-palmitoyl-2-(6,7-dibromo) stearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) is a brominated-PC lipid,[1] that is not hygroscopic and not light sensitive.

Application

16:0-18:0 (6-7BR) PC (1-palmitoyl-2-(6,7-dibromo) stearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) has been used to prepare large unilamellar vesicles.[2] It may be used to prepare large unilamellar liposomes for parallax analysis.[1] It may also be used as a component in small unilamellar vesicles (SUVs) for tryptophan quenching experiments.[3][4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

16:0-18:0 (6-7BR) PC (1-palmitoyl-2-(6,7-dibromo) stearoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) can act as a quencher for molecules near or at the interface.[3]

Pathogenic bacteria easily develop resistance to c onventional antibiotics so that even relatively new molecules are quickly losing efficacy. This strongly encourages the quest of new antimicrobials especially for the treatment of chronic infections. Cationic antimicrobial peptides (CAMPs) are small
