General description

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is mucosal layer constituent, which can serve as a surfactant.[1]
The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.

Application

05:0 PC (D5PC/1,2-dipentanoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) may be used:
  • as a component in the preparation of endophilin Bin−Amphiphysin−Rvs domain (EndoBAR) deforms membranes[2]
  • in binary mixtures to study the effects of lipid chain length and unsaturation on bicelles stability[3]
  • in the preparation of homo and heterooligomers for ESi MSMS studies[4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is known to participate in fusion and transport of membranes. It plays a key role in endocytosis and the catalytic activity of enzymes.[5]
