General description

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) is dietary source of choline.[1] 04:0 PC (1,2-dibutyryl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) is a short chain fatty acyl residue.[2]
The list of Phosphatidylcholine products offered by Avanti is designed to provide compounds having a variety of physical properties. Products available include short chain (C3-C8 are water soluble and hygroscopic), saturated, multi-unsaturated and mixed acid PC′s. All of the products are purified by HPLC, and special precautions are taken to protect the products for oxidization and hydrolysis.

Application

04:0 PC (1,2-dibutyryl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) may be used:
  • to study its influence on the formation of lipid hydroperoxides and headspace hexanal in stripped soybean oil (SSO)[2]
  • to study its impact on the antioxidant activity of α-tocopherol[2]
  • as a phospholipid substrate to study the substrate specificity of the purified glycerophosphoethanolamine ethanolaminephosphodiesterase (GPE-EP)[3]
  • as a substrate to study the activities of soluble and immobilized phospholipase 2 from snake venom[4]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Phosphatidylcholine (PC) intake through diet can enhance the learning and memory ability in rats.[1]
