General description
Biochem/physiol Actions
Gadolinium (Gd) has magnetic moment property and is potent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent. Diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid attached to phosphatidylethanolamine (DTPA-PE) conjugated with Gd to form vesicles or liposomes improves the relaxivity of the Gd-DTPA complex while imaging.[1] Targeted liposomes with Gd-DTPA (gadolinium-diethylenetriamine pentaacetic acid) facilitate tumor visualization and imaging.[2]
